Another episode that i didn't catch until summer repeats, missing I and I Am a Camera led to some confusion as Logan started fixing the exoskeleton in Hit a Sista Back and Meow ('Where in the world did he get that?'), so seeing it answered some questions. I enjoyed this episode... a lot. Phil makes Max and Logan's "save the world" approach to life seem mild in comparison, and Max majorly kicks bootie when she's saving two of the men in her life. It's a nice little romp considering how serious the rest of the season's eps were, so though it's a bit silly, it's all good. |
Talking about cuss-a-rama, this episode racks it up with seventeen expletives! They should have put an L with that V (but of course, that L is supposed to be language about sexual situations, isn't it?), because that's the most bad words for an ep by far (it even beats Meow). "Seemed like a sweet guy..."?!? Max barely met Snuffy, and he didn't say two words: how is that sweet? Why do people always talk about Eyes Only in the third person even if they know it's Logan and he's sitting right there? Why would it suddenly be bad business for Logan to be seen with Uncle Jonas? He'd already been to the Cale mansion twice that week. That hoverdrone sure did have a lot of ammo. Renfro's printer is really fast: it also didn't print the screen capture she took. Why in the world did it take Logan so long to cash that check anyway? |
It's a strong three and a half, but it's still three and a half. So Max isn't preoccupied with Ben's death (which just happened last week), but she is preoccupied with Snuffy's while Logan's buggin' about her being an X-5 monster... Is that true love or what? But what can i say: this is just one of those eps that you have to get out of the way but isn't that inspiring at the same time. They did manage to make it humorous, and the reflections of Max, Phil, and Logan are all good, but it isn't the highlight of the season. But they got all this out of the way so we could get to the good stuff next week, right?

I and I Am a Camera... Just a super long way to say Max and Phil. Must be awful growing up so used to death that you use a corpse for the foul line when you're playing softball. There's the Lydecker look-alike from Rising (only this time he's a cop... and he's still uncredited).
What was that last thing OC said to Max? Phil drinks milk: does a body good. Nitpick? How does a camera like Phil's work? When you look through the lens backwards (as you're looking towards him), you see his forehead, so how does the camera interpret the photo and put it on film? If you look really close when Max dives into Logan's car and puts it into gear to escape from the hoverdrone, you kind of get an idea of how it works (i think that it's the only time they've shown it).

Okay, let's see, where do i start? First off, Sketchy is once again an example of drunkeness (no-no according to the Bible). Max and the gang are insulting Ronald Reagan and Reagan Ronald in the same breath (whatever happened to "it takes all kinds to make a world" and am i good or what?). And Sketchy's using a female oral sex term to insult his boss right under his nose (do they really see Normal as that dense?) which is funny, yet... not. And then there's the thing with Uncle Jonas: TPTB are so biased against Republicans that it's not even funny at this point, and yet, what traits of a conservative does Uncle Jonas emulate? How about none. And while we're at it, how about we talk about our own "bored, rich, liberal, white guy," who isn't bored, who's making the right choice, and whose values aren't liberal at all... I need to go write a fanfic about Logan being a closet conservative or somethin' (once again, am i good or what?). And then there's Max's "I think we make our own destiny." Again, from a Christian viewpoint, how about not? Because according to the Bible, God makes our destiny, and we're only truly happy if we follow that destiny, because He only has our happiness in mind. So let's step to the real, here: stop bashing conservatives (whose viewpoint Max and Logan shared for the first sixteen hours of the series that i saw), stop bashing God-given destiny (because Jessica is a Christian, even if she isn't necessarily practicing at the moment, who do you think got her this gig?), and stop it with the potty mouths (which i can usually stand, but this was a bit too much... though some would say that any is too much, but that's a whole 'nother issue). Last but not least, thank you, Phil, for showing us the wonder of taking care of our planet (a view shared by liberals and conservatives alike) and saving Human beings, too (because they're more important than the plants and animals, and because he's right about the woman selling her body in the street: after all, all life is precious). So let's get back to the real Max and Logan, where Phil really is leaving us all in good hands. (Go back to your homes, people! The show's over! I got it off my chest and now i can sit back and just enjoy the program!)
