The first time i saw this episode, i had no idea how the season finale could be anywhere near as exciting as this. Meow is so good and is such a cliffhanger, that AJBAC could have been a big disappointment. Little did i know what was in store for Max... |
About the Log Line... Max wasn't looking for Tinga (not until the very end): only Zack was. So inaccurate... (:. When Original Cindy tells Max to "Drop and give me twenty," why does Max turn around and walk away? Where did the guy from the Reds (Zakes) get that pic of Max? (and btw, just what did he sing when he pulled it out?) OC uses "bitch" and "damn" freely, but she says "b.s." instead of bullshit? When Max uses words like "bitch" it still sound innocent, but sometimes when OC says it, sometimes she sounds like a potty mouth.

Meow is an obvious reference to Max's feline dna (which is what's causing her to go into heat). You know you watch a show too much when you notice that Logan wears New Balance sneakers... But that's aiight, because i'm proud to be a fan of Dark Angel. Max's motorcycle has 600 cc's of power (case in point of too much DA). Max and OC do have a shower: don't let anyone tell you otherwise! They've been talking about security systems that identify people by photos on the news a lot since 9/11. These new security systems sound a lot like hoverdrones, to me (only they aren't mobile). Taliban and Star Wars (launched in '05) Logan has a surprise, Max wants to know what... sound familliar? music OC speech I love how they have the subtle switches on this show: Max pickpocketing Aunt Margo in Art Attack and Lydecker giving Sandoval a bugged pen (which i caught the first time i saw this episode!). It's sneaky; i like it.

One of the things that i love about this episode is how Max didn't want to "scratch" and mess things up with Logan. It's true that she shouldn't have slept with Rafer (even Max realized that), but i think that "Meow's" portrayal of the situation is true to life. One of the things i hate about "Christian" movies is that no one ever sins; it isn't realistic and it isn't a good witness. We Christians aren't supposed to portray ourselves as perfect, just forgiven. Max made a mistake, a mistake that she regretted, and the same is true of all of us: we ALL make mistakes, we all sin. Original Cindy was right when she said that Max felt guilty because she wanted to be with Logan, but what she wasn't right about was the fact that Max shouldn't feel bad about it because " ." This is one of the few times i've felt like OC was making her sexual preference an issue, but in a way it does help prove a point i'd like to make: i don't think think that she's a good moral voice for Max. Two of the things that i don't really like about Dark Angel is how they portray Republican's (Normal) and Christians (see Freak Nation)... i being both. It's odd really, since most military are Republicans (you know, Lydecker is military) and one of the main themes of the show (that the government has too much power and has become corrupt) is a conservative viewpoint. But i'm getting a little off the subject. I'd think that we'd all agree that Max needs a 'spiritual voice.' Original Cindy has tried to provide this, but i don't think that it really fits her character well. I think that the show needs a Christian character who will serve as a conscience for Max without being judgemental or unrealistic (just like OC usually does for the gay community). Pollo Loco, Gill Girl, and Love in Vein certainly haven't cut it, and OC isn't it... So i personally hope that Jondy will someday help fill this void, because Max isn't the only person who needs such a voice: just look at Alec in season two. Yes, i like him the way he is (scoundrel), but for someone who thought that the world outside Manticore was dirty and disease ridden, he sure does sleep around. I just think it would be nice for him to settle down a bit, and as TPTB promised us that there'd be someone new for him in season three, i hope that Jondy's it: i think it would provide some great tension.
