I think that Art Attack was my fourth episode. It was nice to watch, as i did not really understand Dark Angel's plotline yet, and i was able to just sit back and watch without thinking about it. I enjoyed watching Max kick ass and Logan stumble over his speech. I didn't analyze it, just enjoyed the stunts... the rest came later. I'm glad that is saw this when i did because i didn't really get Cold Comfort, Out, or The Kidz are Aiight either ("get" meaning understand... i saw them, but didn't have a clue what was going on). Art Attack is still one of my favorite episodes. |
Nobody stood up for the bride! That is so whack! Herbal was speaking perfectly clearly in Crash: i thought that wasn't supposed to happen until the next episode. The three Koreans who walked by single file (right before Max stuck her head down): where were they going? And is it just me, or did the chubby one look like he was trying not to laugh? Just because Original Cindy doesn't want a husband does not automatically let Daphne know that she's a lesbian. Maybe OC was just saying that she didn't want to get hitched (for all she knew). | Art Attack is by far one of the best episodes of Dark Angel ever. OC's cynical attitude on marriage aside, the ep promotes true love and furthers Max and Logan's relationship just enough to keep the chemistry hot and set the stage for the rest of the season. Art Attack and Rising mark the middle of the season where Dark Angel took off and came into its own as a series. From this point forward, the series raised the bar and continued raising that bar of what is cutting edge television in the new millenium. I still can't believe Fox cancelled her.

Art Attack: "While your uncle was getting sloshed you brought a killer to justice and saved an American art treasure. Maybe it's time you brought him up to speed that you're not the family failure." Logan likes to play basketball. Uncle Jonas and Aunt Margo have other sons, but Bennet still chose Logan as best man. Normal didn't know Logan. I love the music in this episode: the harp at the wedding was just perfect. vow = declaration of intent Funny, the Cales had a priest perform the wedding: i took them for Protestants or some such denomination. There seems to be a strong catholic influence on this show (see Pollo Loco, Boo, Gill Girl, Love in Vein) Normal is CHEAP! He values his life at what: ten, twenty bucks? Why does OC always call Sketchy "Wiggy"? Logan attended Yale (!) and appreciates Daphne's art (he is rather the art buff). It seemed to me that they must have known each other before Yale, though (as they discussed going to the prom together).
I would not have gotten that beautiful dress anywhere near a dumpster! I'll say one thing for this show: it expands your vocabulary. Who knew there was a word like "defenestration" in the English language? And the difference between moron and idiot? Normal knows his stuff. I love Aunt Margo's observation that "Logan certainly needs a woman to take care of him: poor thing. Handsome as ever, though." Sets the stage for Rising and Haven, only it's Logan taking care of Max. Still, they do take care of each other, and it's all good. Have i ever mentioned that i love the way Max slinks around when she's on the prowl? It must be hurt to be kicked by someone who's wearing heels. Max loves cake. (: We get to meet Dr. Shankar: she's really pretty. The security officer at the airport is Otto! (See Bag 'Em) Our genetically-engineered pickpocket looks hot in her red dress. Logan was right when he said that she was the most beautiful woman at the wedding. I bet Cinderalla never looked so good.

Not the lame attack on Republicans again! (Hey, don't blame me: OC started it!) Now i'll admit that Normal seems crusty because he's angry a lot, that doesn't mean that he's as embittered as OC makes it sound. And he's obviously a white man, so of course he wouldn't have rhythm like a black man (again, she started it), but if Boo is any indication, Normal may have his own kind of rhythm and be able to dance a mean jig. While the constipation is a bit tmi, i still say we have no real way to know, unless it's from eating haggis from said episode. And lastly, just because you're a Republican doesn't make you any of those things. Every political party has its bad apples as well as its inspiring leaders, including the Democrats. Case in point, JFK vs. Bill Clinton (though some may argue JFK was a pervo, too) and Reagan vs. Nixon (don't you even talk smack about Normal's namesake!). On another note...
I've said before that i don't want Max and Logan "getting busy;" at least not until they've gotten married. The sinful nature of such an event aside, i believe that episodes like Blah Blah, Woof Woof, Art Attack, Meow, And Jesus Brought a Casserole, Radar Love, Exposure, and Freak Nation (just to name a few) prove that to do so would only cheapen their relationship, maybe even ruin it. Max and Logan display a kind of destined love that we all hope someday to find. Such love should be cherished, not flaunted or thrown away casually like Max's relationships with Eric or Rafer. I truly hope that we will someday get to see Max and Logan embark on the greatest adventure two people can share. (Not that their lives aren't adventurous enough already, i'm just saying...)
